Hi-Tech Precision
Air Balancing

Balanced airflow is not optional — it is the foundation of every efficient, comfortable, and code-compliant commercial building. PCS deploys digital capture hoods, calibrated anemometers, and real-time data logging to measure, adjust, and certify your HVAC system to design specifications.

What Air Balancing Actually Saved

A Calgary restaurant fit-out, measured before and after commercial air balancing. Every figure below is an instrument reading on file — not a projection.

27% Lower Annual Ventilation Energy Cost
$5,180 Saved Every Year, 2026 Alberta Rates
6.6 kW Peak Electrical Demand Removed
81/81 Air Outlets Inside ±10% Design Tolerance
19t CO₂e Avoided Per Year
Engineering Analysis

Café Med's ventilation fans were moving 14–16% more air than the design called for. Because fan power rises with the cube of airflow, that modest excess was costing roughly a third of the fan energy. Balancing the systems down to design — while holding code-required outdoor air and the kitchen's negative pressure exactly where the engineer specified — cut combined fan demand from 18.9 kW to 12.3 kW and removed 899 CFM of outdoor air the make-up unit had been heating all winter: 27,600 kWh of electricity and 115 GJ of natural gas per year.

Why GCs and Clients Choose PCS

The TAB supervisor on this project is a licensed Power Engineer. Kenny Pham holds an ABSA Alberta Fourth Class Power Engineer certificate of competency, in addition to NCI Certified Commercial Air Balancing Technician credentials — the same depth of mechanical licensing used to operate and diagnose commercial plant equipment, not just read a balometer. That is the difference between a technician who records airflow numbers and one who understands why a VFD, an interlock, or a fan curve is behaving the way it is. It is why general contractors and facility managers bring PCS in on projects where the mechanical result has to be right the first time.

The PCS Methodology

Four pillars that underpin every air balancing engagement.

Digital Airflow Testing
Accurate. Reliable. Certified.

Calibrated capture hoods and anemometers measure actual airflow at every terminal — not estimates, not averages. Performed and documented to ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 111-2024.

Advanced Data & Reporting
Real-Time Results. Smart Solutions.

Live data logging feeds directly into our reporting engine. You receive a certified digital report — timestamped, deviation-mapped, and ready for engineering submission.

Precision You Can Trust
Optimised Comfort. Maximum Efficiency.

Properly balanced systems reduce energy waste, eliminate hot and cold spots, and extend equipment life. Precision is the difference between code compliance and true performance.

Proudly Canadian
Quality. Integrity. Excellence.

Canadian-owned, operated, and accountable. We bring the same standard of precision to every project — whether it is a 2,000 sq ft office or a 500,000 sq ft industrial complex.

Why PCS

Technical authority. Commercial accountability. Canadian integrity.

Digital-First Precision

We do not estimate. Every reading is captured by calibrated digital instruments, logged in real time, and traceable to the measurement. No guesswork. No rounding.

Power Engineer-Led TAB

Kenny Pham, PCS's TAB Supervisor, holds an ABSA Alberta Fourth Class Power Engineer certificate of competency in addition to NCI air balancing certification. Every report is signed by someone licensed to understand the whole mechanical system — not just take a reading.

Commercial-Scale Experience

From mid-rise office towers to industrial facilities, we operate comfortably at commercial scale — coordinating with general contractors, mechanical engineers, and facility managers.

Canadian-Owned & Accountable

PCS is Canadian-owned. Our technicians are on-site, our phone answers, and our name is on every report. Local accountability backed by national reach.
